How it all began

Established in 2013, R & D got its name from our first two Labradors Ruby & Daisy.
Since then we have adopted 4 Labradors and our family now consists of Arthur, Lottie, Skye and Humphrey and they are at the heart of all we do. Ruby & Daisy are sadly no longer with us, but it will always be R & D.

Introducing ourselves

Sarah

My name is Sarah, and I’m a dog lover. As an owner of 4 Labradors, I know what it is to really love a dog and my job is to extend that love in the care and welfare of your dog while you aren’t there. What my 4 have taught me is that each dog is different, and that each one comes with their own unique personality and with 14 years’ experience of having my own, and 8-years’ experience of building one to one relationships with lots of other dogs I can honestly say I have a real passion for all I do. I am pivotal in creating both our Day Care and Home Care environments and the early socialization and development of the puppies who come into our care.

John

My name is John, and I’m a dog lover too. I spend most of my days walking dogs in all kinds of interesting places. I find nothing more rewarding than building a strong bond of trust between me and a dog. Unbeknown to me, when all this just started, I have a strong affinity with dogs. This allows me to build relationships quickly. I base all that I do on permission-based consent, enrichment and of course positive touch; and at the end of the day there is always a great welcome waiting for me when I get home.

Harley & Harry

We have had the good fortune of using R and D walking service for the last five years or so. Harry and Harley absolutely love John and Sarah. You only have to witness the greeting both of them receive when they collect the boys to know that our Doodles feel safe, secure and loved. We have received photos of the boys enjoying their walks and it is a joy to see them out and about when our working pattern doesn't allow us to exercise them. R and D offer a trustworthy, reliable, flexible and professional service and I can't recommend them enough.

Merlin

We got our first puppy in August 2018 and soon started to consider what to do with him for our planned Summer 2019 holiday. R & D Dog Walking were recommended to us through a friend as a good home for your dog to stay as opposed to a kennel environment. Sarah met our dog with some of hers for a communal walk as an initial test to see if our dog got on OK with theirs. That went well and a free introductory overnight stay was planned. However, our puppy was just too excited to settle with other dogs and had to come home. The pandemic then happened; our holidays were cancelled. Our dog has now matured (a bit!) and settled much better and has had several successful day visits and we hope to try another overnight soon, as we also hope to go abroad this year. John and Sarah treat your dog as their own, with love care and attention and send regular updates and we are very happy to recommend them to look after your dog.

We’ve been using R&D’s dog walking, home stays and day care services for the last six years. All of our dogs, including rescues and very nervous dogs, have loved spending time with Sarah and John. We consider them to be South Nottingham’s own ‘Dog Whisperers’
